Program Description: A program focusing on the theory and practice of fires and fire-fighting. Includes instruction in fire chemistry and physics, combustible materials, computer science, building construction, fire codes and related laws, fire hydraulics, fire command, fire prevention/inspection, fire protection systems, fire suppression systems, fire/arson investigation, occupational safety, equipment operation, emergency medicine and communications.

Prerequisites:
Prerequisite of: EMTC B51 EMR-Emergency Medical Responder - OR - EMTC B50 Emergency Medical Technician. The applications are available at the Olive Drive Fire Training Facility and Bakersfield College (at the Fire Tech. office Weill Institute, 21st & Chester). The physical agility test will be the CPAT and it will be held at the Olive Drive Fire Training Facility (the date will be noted in the packet). Note: if you have a current CPAT card you will not have to take the CPAT, you must show your current CPAT certification card when turning in your application. See your packet for specific information.
