Program: Advanced Welding Technology

Program Description:	The welding program is designed to provide entry-level training and practical skills in Oxy-Acetylene cutting and brazing, SMAW (Arc), GMAW (MIG), FCAW (Flux Core) and GTAW (TIG) in ferrous and nonferrous metals, including purge welding of sanitary process pipe. In addition to preparing students for AWS welder performance certifications students will also learn shop and site safety practices, blueprint reading, principles of metallurgy, construction math, hand and power tool usage and basic layout techniques used in the fabrication industry.

Prerequisites:	Welding participants must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma and/or GED or pass an ATB exam. Participants must complete the institution admission requirements and possess the physical ability to carry out the tasks associated with the welding industry.
